Mornings In The Studio

I thought today I would
share with you some photo
shots from around my studio
and some of the projects
I have been working on

The sun has finally decided to come
and stay for a few days
(fingers crossed)
Ooops
A bunch of clouds are coming through

The light in this room is just fantastic
Mornings...I greet the sunrise with
the window that faces East
Evenings..I get the back splash from the sunsets
My North window gives me constant cool light
Most days just the natural light is what
I work by

A rose bush has grown quite lusty in the east window
so beautiful pink blossoms will be my view soon

This lion face planter has three faces...
It needs a wash up...

I love using old plated silver to hold my
tools and what nots
Color and light is what it is all
about here
I found this beautiful flat marble tray
at an estate sale last week
Perfect for my speaker to sit on...and the
light comes blazing across it
lighting it all up
Beautiful
The Domino project
These beauties will be in my etsy store later today
(fingers crossed)
I adore them...
The idea of using re-using an object
that has been discarded by someone else
(go back several months and you will see the original
story of how the domino redux came
to life)
Has always been part of what my own personal
art is about.
This fantastic frame came
into my hands a few
weeks ago
It is perfect for the Junkin Gypsies logo
Next some glass and it will
be ready to hang
here in my studio
I love this image
And
some very special books Jill and I
have been working on
the last week to send to some
dear friends.

This next week...Junkin Gypsies
has a couple of big projects
going on and
we will be sharing that with
you on our blog.
School is out...so life gets hectic
(and fun)
for many of us
Oh...
I have one more image
to share with you.
It was a gift from my dear
friend Jill
I have this in a book
but she found it loose and knew
it had to hang in my studio
Now to find a frame
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday

Amazing Friday Garage Sale Discoveries

Wow...It has been such a beautiful day today.
The plan was to work on the Junkin Gypsies note cards for the store.
Then take my son to my folks
so he can mow their lawns (his summer job)
So...As Jordan slept in (cause I am a softy mom and there was no
school today) I had coffee and worked on the
cards.  Getting them assembled so that
Jill can take pictures.
I just snapped a few so that I could show them off here.
Tomorrow they will be in the Junkin Gypsies Etsy store...

They are all Jill's original artwork
I really love her art and these cards are like little paintings.

So while Jordan was mowing the lawns
my dad suggested some garage sales around the
neighborhood I might be interested in.
Oh Yep Yep
Now don't I keep saying.  No More Books!?
Ack...It is my addiction
Books.
today I found something so fantastic for a moment
I could not believe it was for sale.
A  log book
for Columbia Harbor No. 22
Leather bound...12 inches x 20 inches
With the name Alice Mae Endicott on the front
The first 38 pages have been removed..And the rest of the log 398
pages are empty.
There is some writing in the back for a wedding
It is too big to scan..so tomorrow in the sunlight I will take pictures of it.
It amazed me that I got it for a buck.
A young man moving and selling everything...many of his books
looked like family books. Another one I got there was

from 1905...Engineering Drawing.  I scanned a couple of pages to share
And last
A book on Aubrey Beardsley
This was a fantastic find...I have always liked Beardsley's work
but have never explored him.
This book is too large to scan properly..so this image
is a bit crooked.
So...Yes..more books.

Sunday Surprise Nursery Friends From France And A Child's Garden Of Verses

As many of you know.  Jill and I have
a new business on Etsy called
Junkin Gypsies.  Starting a new business together has been
a lot of fun...and a lot of work.
We spend a huge amount of time on the phone working
out details,  countless hours on the computer.....runs back
and forth to each other's homes for supplies
and coffee.
This last week we tried something new (for us)
and met halfway to do
some shopping and exchange supplies.
I keep running out of ribbon.
Hang on!
There is a point to this story
So-after a stop at Harbor Freight
we decided to toddle off to
the Saint Vinny's on Broadway.
I really should take a picture and put it on here.
Right next to this huge warehouse junk store is a glass blowing
co-op.
fun stuff
Back to the story.
Yes we found lots of fun stuff at the junk store. And I had to keep
telling Jill...No! I am not buying any more books-you see I am cleaning out
my studio and am going to be selling some of my books.
So, we part ways
she back to her house...me to mine.
And gosh darn it...There was a SALE sign two blocks from
my house.
I had to stop.....I knew I was in for trouble the minuet I pulled up.
This was a doll maker's estate sale.
Oh my!
She also was an accomplished artist from a long line of artists.
I perused her studio furniture.   The odds and ends
left over from a lifetime of creativity.
And then I found the books
Oh No!
Books on anatomy written in the 1800's-art books-family history books
I found one book that is the size (haha of a book) but empty
Leather bound...the pages had been filled from
front to back with family history dates and events.
The older brother was thrilled when I handed it back to him. Lol
No he would not let me buy it.
I found another book of poetry that had a loving poem in the front from his grandfather
to his grandmother on their engagement.
Anyway...Those books I did not buy
What I did buy are these.

I took pictures instead of scanning them
Because the Nursery Friends From France is in almost mint
condition and I did not want to hurt
the spine
The other book in bad shape..But was published in 1940
I just had to share these beautiful finds with you...
I did get some other amazing treasures
A small silver dish from China
Assorted small bisque doll parts...Lace
from France.
But those darn books...They get me every time.
I am looking for a new book shelf
Any one have one for sale?

Knife vs Finger Update And Ephemera Pack Winners Ship Today

Well here it is Thursday
this week has gone by way too fast for me.
My husband teased me last weekend and said he was going to
buy me a Day Timer...lol
I really am beginning
to thing he is right and I need one
The day just goes by too fast and it seems like my mental
list just keeps going on and on.
So this week
My finger is healing nicely...but
it really hurts every time I accidentally bump it.
Interesting thing
you can do everything minus your index finger.
 have managed to type,
do dishes,
shower,
tie ribbons
fold envelopes
I think you get the point
it really only held me back the first couple of days
Yesterday was spent putting together
and packing up the
ephemera packs for the winners
of the Junkin Gypsies
giveaway.
I had a lot of fun putting these together
for our winners.
They will be going out in today's mail.

My work table looks pretty scuffed
an antique dresser that
serves as one of my work spaces.

Anyway...off to the printer to get that
one last address on
Thanks for the email this morning Dawn
Then to the post office
and over to Jills for more Junkin Gypsies
fun
We will have some new product for the Etsy store this
afternoon so please come over and
shop.
Mothers day is just right around the corner....
With that in mind
I should probably go get a day timer.
Have a great day gals~

Ouch! Be Careful With Knives Dearies!

Well my friends...it has been a busy week
As you all know
Junkin Gypsies opened this week and
we had our giveaway on Friday
You can go over to the Junkin Gypsies blog
to see the winners
TeeHee...Yep
I said winners.
Friday night I think both
Jill and I were pretty pooped.
But oh so excited and happy.
Thank you all so much
for taking part!!

I guess I was a little more
excited than I should of been.
Right now I am Typing
one handed..
Yikes,
Yes...I did it...as I was cooking
dinner Friday night
I decided to try to de-bone
my left index finger
with the knife
my dear sweet hubbs had just
sharpened for me.
OUCH!
No stitches...because there is nothing left
to stitch (as I calmly explained to
my husband...trying not to faint as blood
went everywhere...fingers really bleed!)
So...I am one handed for a few days.
The good thing is it gets me out
of dish chore...My son is so happy about
that....lol

I hope you all have had a great weekend
be careful in the kitchen today!

Can I Try To Fit More Hours In The Day

I don't know about you...
but it seems like lately there just
does not seem to be
enough time in the day for all the things I want and
need to do.
Jill and I have been so busy these last few
weeks getting Junkin Gypsies up
and going.
That Leaping Frog Designs has gone a little
quiet.
My Etsy store finally has some new vintage items
listed...and on that note,
Last week I was invited to join the
Etsy Vintage Street Team
This next week I plan on exploring the team blog and my
fellow team members stores.
Since I could not sleep
this morning
I made up a treasury of one
of my favorite things
Crazy Quilting.
Here is the link
Hopefully some of you will stop on over
and take a look
So many beautiful quilts and amazing
artists.
Have a great Friday everyone!!!

A Fun Afternoon Shopping And Brainstorming With The Gypsies

Today was supposed to be a brainstorming creating day for Jill and I.   We have a new venture together and there is quite a lot of work involved before we can unveil it here on blotspot and Etsy.
Sooo...What do we end up doing after an hour of talking and eating toffee?  (Lauren brought us a wonderful lunch of humus and flat bread topped off with wonderful toffee from Trader Joe's)
We went shopping at the craft stores.  These delightful pictures are from Michael's.  I can not wait until this isle is finished...Really I don't think one is going to be enough.

Look at all the yummy French bling they have brought in.......I really want one of these wire Eiffel towers (You can never have too many Eiffel towers about)
They still have quite a bit of stock to bring in it looks like.....
The Gypsies found some bling....You can't tell in the packages...But these are pretty flower rings.
We love Michael's dollar bins...Look at these fun note cards Jill found.
Lauren found some neat stickers and big alphabet letters on the bottom shelf.
I keep forgetting to take pictures when we are at Ben Franklin...That is our local small craft store and it very nice.  They have a wonderful selection of scrap booking papers and a very good bead and charm section.  We went there first...So next time I will remember to take pictures.
