Vintage Wall Paper Clip Art Pan American Wall Papers From Leaping Frog Designs

Have you ever opened up
a box that has been sitting for (years)
a long time.
And been pleasantly surprised?
This last weekend that happened to me
Several years ago when Jordan was a baby
my sister and I stumbled on
a fantastic fund raiser sale.
We needed shopping carts for goodness sakes.
I had forgotten all about these great
wall paper samples.
These look like they are all from
Pan American Wall Papers
I am not into wall paper
but these are very cool...They look
like they have all been hand printed
You can run your finger over and feel the
layers...you can see them very clearly too.
This one is textured and has
tiny gold flecks all over it.
I bet in candle light it is stunning

There are about 200 sample sheets
in my stack
I am going to make up a few packs
and list them in my Etsy store this week
So if any of you are Wall Paper fans
come by and see if there are any you can use.

How Old Is Your Rolling Pin?

This afternoon
I picked up my rolling pin
and realized someone (?) had put
her away with some sticky stuff
all down one side
Does a rolling pin have a side? hmmm
Anyway.
As I ran her under warm tap water
her history came back to me

I used to live in this little tiny house
on the south west end of Eugene
One afternoon I noticed lots of people driving by...
being as curious as a cat
I went to see...An Estate sale!
Yeah!!
I wandered around all through the house...and the
one thing that caught me was this rolling pin.
It was pretty expensive
for back then...
20 bucks
back in 1984
She glowed...and I knew that she had to come home with me
As I went to buy her...I started talking to the woman
who's sale it was.  I found out that the rolling pin
had been made in 1918 by her grandfather
we talked for some time
and when it was time to pay
she gave it to me.
I was shocked
But oh so happy.
This rolling pin is almost 100 years old.
As I held her in my hands today...feeling how
smooth her surface is...
generations of women and possibly men
rolling out pie crust's and
biscuits
Feeding the ones they love

I am happy to have her in my kitchen
I hope I have a grandchild someday to pass this
on too.  Ha ha...
my boy does not seem
to like rolling pie crust.

I think if taken care of she
has another 100 years of good work left in her.

Sorry It Has Been So Long Freebie The Happy Family And A Cook Book

My sweet Da called me this morning
to let me know about
a cool estate sale he had stumbled on.
You really have to go he said....
I had planned on today being a stay in day.
So much to do..like work on
ephemera packs for the Gypsie store.
And pick on my son and husband by
putting in something like...hmmm The Duchess
Or Made In Heaven.
But Jer (my partner in crime) said he
would go with me to the sale
And get this...he even gave me money..
What a sweet husband.
So anyway
Dad was spot on...
It was a great sale...and it must of been a fantastic
sale the first 4 days they had it.
I picked up a nice batch of vintage and
antique cook books.
A packet rubber banded together full of
trade cards and vintage post cards.
I thought I would share with you this afternoon
a couple of the post cards
and one of the old photos in the packet
also...One of the cook books.
Oh...and The measurement page from one of the cook books
And of course the Happy Family.....
Enjoy!!

This Weeks Big Project Victorian Cuff Bracelet

One of the things I have missed the last few years is my embroidery needles.  I put everything away after starting a huge crazy quilt project for my son.  Working on it at night after he and my husband went to bed really wore my eyes out...Last year finally breaking down bifocals came into my life...Thank Goodness!!!! I could see again at last.

Cruising on the blog I have seen so many beautiful projects...It just did not hit me until this last Monday how much I yearned to create again with fabric and  beads.  It is so typical that the project you dream about making ends up not being the project you actually make...Maybe that only happens to me and not other people.  But it happens to me quite often...ha ha

I love pink...and I have a pretty piece of peachy pink brocade fabric that was going to be the base for my bracelet.  But.....This beautiful maroon-rusty satin has been calling to me for the longest time.  I rescued it from a large pile of junk left by my parents next door neighbors by the side of the road when they moved overseas. (I know..I know...I am a scrounge)  But it is so beautiful and it called to me to be rescued and made into something new.  Anyway....

Thought pink....ended up with maroon and black.  I really love how it turned out!
A single vintage earring...Hundreds of crystal beads in assorted sizes.  Two Victorian black glass buttons.  This was a lot of fun to make...and I have already pressed my next pieces of fabric to start the next one....The peachy pink brocade with a lush vintage gold satin...mmmmm

Freebie Vintage Scrapbook Images Flapper Girl

I started collecting Scrap Books way back in the early 1970's.  I would go to estate sales and garage sales with my parents and often...these wonderful
treasures had been tossed into the free box.  Or, could be had for a quarter. Over the years I have managed to collect  a small hoard of these time capsules.
This one I had not even looked at when I found it and now am having a blast with what is inside.  This is the medallion on the front cover. Over the next few days I will be scanning and posting from it's contents. I hope you enjoy this beautiful old scrapbook from my personal collection!

Beautiful antique sterling napkin ring featuring Pinky and Blue Boy. Engraved 1909 and has the initials ELW I think..you may be better at reading the script.
