Look What I Found Today At A Garage Sale An Antique Chamber Pot

Today was yard work day at my
parents house
My son usually mows their lawn and I do some
weeding or what ever else they need done
Today on our way there
I saw the sign...Garage Sale and the address
I know Eugene pretty well...and A sale in this
neighborhood is rare.
So..Told Jordan
Oh It's good you brought your DS and a book
you will have something to do for a few min.
while I scoot into this sale.
Laughing so hard because you should of seen his face
"Not again Mom"
Giggle
So up the hill I went to the sale...around the bend
Into the parking lot that was surrounded by woods
and ivy...Cool and Green
On the outside of the sale.
Artwork laid out on the driveway.
The prices looked pretty steep..but not that bad
Then I was told...everything was 70% off the marked
prices.
Really?
REALLY?
My first handful came to 5 dollars
my second handful another 6
then...the chamber pot
It was only 18 dollars...Take 70% off of that
and you know what I paid.
I was so excited!
I was so excited I just had to show my Mom
And nothing prepared me for
how excited she was.
Little did I know that in all the years
she had been collecting
This was one of the items she had been questing for
She has a beautiful ca mode (did I spell that right?)
and always wanted the chamber pot to go with it.
Now she does.
This beautiful piece is now sitting in her living room
(now quit laughing)
There was no room for it in my house..and she loves it so much
Mom can not get out much
and no garage sales or estate sales for her anymore
it was wonderful to trip on this
and find out how much she had been wanting one.
Tomorrow I am going to surprise her with
something more.
On the way home from their house
I went by again...just hoping I had missed
more pieces to the set.
I had.
I found three more.
I can't wait to see her face.

Freebie Friday Good King Arthur Walter Crane Image From The Baby's Opera Vintage Clip Art

This children's book has been one of my all time very best finds.  I rooted it out of falling down stack of books in the back room of a bookstore up the valley. lol...I kind of got chewed out by the clerk for being in the back room...but that is where the bathroom was and you know...Why not look around at the stuff stacked up on your way.  I understand from Jill that this book is kind of rare so I feel very lucky to have found it.  I hope you enjoy this fantastic beautiful image.  I wonder what is in that bag don't you?  Maybe blackbirds...

Hand Carved Mother Of Pearl Antique Pins

A few of my hand carved antique Mother of Pearl pins........
Over the years I have discovered that these beautiful and intricately carved pins have a long history that reaches back across time.  Many of them have  been carved in Bethlehem.  Where since the time of the crusades artisans have been carving mother of pearl for the tourist trade.  Yep...Even hundreds of years ago tourists bought souvenirs.  During WWll from what I have been told the 5 point star was somehow tied into women who's son's served in the military.  But that I have never seen in print.    If you you happen to come across a pin or pendant and you are unsure about it's age.  Flip it over and look at the clasp.  Made of brass or silver with a C clasp (that is just a piece of metal bent over in the shape of a C so the bar can hook into it)  A newer pin will have a modern clasp that has been glued on. The older ones have been drilled into the shell..And the pin will have an old patina.  You may also see the name Bethlehem stamped into the metal or carved the shell.   If you find one or have one of your own you know what a delightful treasure they are ...Glowing with a a life all there own.  I for one can't seem to stop collecting them and even though I have about 85 pieces I am always finding one that I just can't live without.  Thanks to Jill and Lauren my fellow Junkin Gypsies I discovered a real beauty yesterday...Sigh. My fingers are crossed it will still be in that antique store case next week.

Beautiful Antique Sterling Napkin Ring I Just Listed On Etsy l909

Beautiful antique sterling napkin ring featuring Pinky and Blue Boy. Engraved 1909 and has the initials ELW I think..you may be better at reading the script.

Inside are the hallmarks. It is English I believe and it weighs 37.5 grams. A fantastic and rare find, it is over 100 years old and has some wear...I think it could use a good buffing here and there.

Oh I almost fell over in a swoon when I came accross these delightful Nicholas Lancret framed prints. They are in beautiful vintage frames softly brushed with gold. As you can see they are both sealed. and the back paper is the most astounding fleur de lis. They both say Made in Italy. Both measure 5 1/4 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches tall. They are both in good used vintage condition.
I can just picture them on silk ribbons for hanging...The perfect little decorator touch to finish off a room and nook.

Pretty Little Gift Boxes

These last couple of days have been spent playing with my tag and making gift boxes....getting ready for the holidays and all.  Making these little boxes to fill with wonderful treasures has hooked me.  I love the vintage feel of them...One of my favorite finds to stumble upon when out estate sale hunting are the old, old German paper cards and decorations.  As time goes on I will take pictures of some of mine and add them.  Hope all of you are having a fantastic week!
