Vintage Christmas Post Card Ornaments
Oh boy...I have been wanting to get started
on my Christmas ornaments and decorations
for months..At last this week I decided
to just jump in and get started.
One of the tutorials I bought earlier this year
was a sweet set from Dawn over at
Sew Many Roses
Here is a link to her
Etsy store
I have a huge vintage
Christmas Post Card Collection
and that is what I decided I was going to use
for this project.
Before making the commitment of
my old cards I thought it would be
best to make a prototype set.
(and just fun)
The set in these pictures are
the prototypes
First I gathered all my supplies
Dawn has provided a large selection
of vintage images from
her collection in her tutorial. So I started
with them because they are just the right
size and I had purchased them.
Something new I tried this time is using
a spray adhesive. I chose the Elmers Craft Adhesive.
and it seems to work great (except if you get it on your hands
and then pet the cat)
I do advise using a flat box to spray into
(not your hand
and do not pet the cat )
Wow!! Now I have a new addition to
my magic craft kit
I love this stuff
Why haven't I ever used it?
Anyway
I started out by cutting pieces of
heavy chipboard
spraying it with adhesive
and covered it with a beautiful
Christmas paper. Father Christmas Berries
from BoBunny
The backs are vintage music paper
Next I used Ranger Distress Ink
Ranger DIS-19503 Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad (Google Affiliate Ad)Elmers E421 Elmers Craft Bond Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive (Google Affiliate Ad)
Old Photo to shade both sides of the base
to give it a vintage feel.
I cut another piece of chipboard and
applied it to the back of the post cards to raise
them from the base. Then added grommets so
the holes looked finished.
I decorated the post cards with Stickles
then dusted with a fine glass glitter.
I usually do a prototype set with newer materials
before jumping in with my vintage papers.
The tutorial called for extra fine glitter
and honestly that is the only thing I would
change on this project.
The fine glitter is just
not fine enough but it
is what I had on hand
So...Extra fine glitter is
on my shopping list for my next
craft store visit.
My next sets will be more
embellished with tiny mercury glass
beads and rhinestones and old buttons.
These have been a real pleasure
to put together and I am already
itching to start the next one's

Vintage Japanese Paper Backgrounds Blossoms Bamboo Birds
These beautiful papers are
made from real wood. Sliced micro thin
and applied on to a paper back
then painted.
I do not know what the wood is
but it has a lovely sheen
I found them in my late Aunt's hope chest
along with their envelopes.
They print out really nice
or you can use them as digital
backgrounds.

Monday Night Football Cookies From Leaping Frog Designs
Well...Here it is football season again
Our t.v. is on all weekend.
College games...pro games.
Monday Night Football
Thursday Night Football
Football Stats
Football hats
Don't get me wrong
I love football
We live right here in Eugene Oregon
Home of the University of Oregon
Ducks
Ducks
I even got my husband the
ESPN package this year so
we could catch all the Pac 12 games.
And...The NFL package
Lots of football in our house
this fall.
This last Monday I made
a batch of one of our
favorite cookies.
I had them done in time for
the game...
I thought I would share the recipe
with you since they are so
popular in our house.
Monday Night Football Cookies
(These are a chewy toll house type cookie)
2 sticks butter
2 1/4 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 c sugar
1 1/4 c brown sugar
1 egg
1 egg yolk (yep..just the yolk)
2 tbs milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 c oats (do not use instant)
1 c raisins(or more if you love them)
1 bag Kraft Caramel Bits
If you can not find the Kraft Caramel Bits
just cut up the wrapped
caramel squares into small pieces
Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
Melt the butter, add sugars and mix til creamy
Add egg, yolk, milk and vanilla extract mix till
combined. Slowly incorporate the flour, salt, baking
soda and mix till combined. Stir in oats,
raisins and Caramel bits.
I do not chill this dough although you can
Use a number 20 scoop (the big one)
I put about 5 on a pan
Smoosh them just a little
Bake 375 till golden brown
The caramel bits will want to stick
to your pan. I use parchment paper.
Then I can slide them off to cool a bit
before I pull them off.
These are wonderful with chocolate chips in
them also..I just can not eat much
chocolate so I usually make them without.
My hubby loves them.
Here is a picture..I did not set them
up to be very pretty..The guys
started attacking as soon as they came
out of the oven.
They end up being quite large
about 4 inches.
Yummy!!!
Happy Football Season!!!

Tea Time Vintage Annette Wynne Image
My goodness it has been a few days
since I have posted...Been so busy
with summer going full swing here in
the Willamette Valley.
Jelly making..Garden planting.
Playing in the river
Love summer
Last week I found the sweetest
old book by Annette Wynne
Poor thing is pretty beat up
and torn but there are a few
pages that are still intact.
Here is a very cute little girl
having tea with her dolly.
I bet these would make sweet tags.
Enjoy!!
